I’d like to share a few thought from my all time favorite mentor and coach Dr. Lance Wallnau. I was introduced to Constraint Theory a few years ago by Dr. Lance and have found it’s implications fascinating.
The Constraint Theory is a methodology for identifying the most important limiting factor (I.E. Constraint) that stands in the way of achieving a goal and then systematically improving that constraint until it is no longer a limiting factor.
You don’t rise to the level of your gifting, talent, ability, anointing, or destiny – you rise to the level of your dominant constraint!
What this means is that we only make progress till we reach this roadblock within ourselves.
- All people have constraints
- No organization will ever rise above the constraints of its leadership
- Leaders who don’t assess and address their constraints cannot take their organization to the next level
- A person’s constraints are “role specific”, they are determined by the role a person is in
- The team with equal talent but less constraints will win
In my next post I will explain this concept in more detail.
