Never accept poor standards. Period. Not of yourself, not of others. The biggest mistake many of us make is accepting poor standards of work of others in trying to be nice, accepting, or in trying to be popular.
No one can be both popular and effective all the time. Sometimes you will need to decide which you will prioritize. At work being effective and on time is what you get paid to do. If you can consistently be effective, with a great attitude you really deserve a bonus!
